LeBron James scored 10 points in his debut for the Philadelphia 76ers, but his new team lost a pre-season game 114-108 to the Brooklyn Nets. James said the group needs time to find its rhythm together.
“We’re still trying to put each other in the position to be successful and complement each other the best way we can on the floor. But it’s going to take some time,” said James. “Tonight was a good sample size for us to build on.”
James played 18 first-half minutes and also recorded four rebounds, five assists and a steal. Jaylen Brown led all scorers with 18 points.
A New Chapter in Philadelphia
The 41-year-old joined the 76ers in July. He says this will be his final contract in the NBA. He shared the court with new team-mates Joel Embiid, VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey in the loss.
James is entering his 24th NBA season, which will extend his record. He is the league’s all-time leading scorer. He has also won a championship with every team he has played for, including two with the Miami Heat, one with the Cleveland Cavaliers and one with the Los Angeles Lakers. He left the Lakers this summer after eight years with the franchise.
Records and Goals
James was named Finals Most Valuable Player all four times his team won the NBA title. He has also been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player four times, all between 2009 and 2013. He has made the All-Star team in each of the last 22 seasons.
His next goal is to help the 76ers win their first NBA title in 43 years.
