The Orlando Magic announced Monday that guard Jalen Suggs will miss at least the next two weeks after suffering a mild bone bruise in his right knee. Suggs will be reevaluated in two weeks, but he has avoided any major structural damage.
The noncontact injury occurred late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over the New York Knicks. Suggs was on a breakaway fast break when his right knee appeared to buckle on his layup attempt with 2:09 remaining. He stayed on the floor for several moments in pain before being helped to his feet.
He walked gingerly to the Magic’s locker room with help from team personnel.
Injury History and Career Context
Suggs, the fifth pick in the 2021 draft, has averaged 12.6 points, 3.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds over his six-year career. He battled injuries the past two years that limited him to 92 games.
