The San Antonio Spurs are now the standalone favorites to win the NBA title at +285, after previously sharing the top spot with the Oklahoma City Thunder at +270. One week into the 2026-27 season, the odds board has already undergone several major shifts.
The Thunder have dropped to +380 amid a series of injuries to start the season, including long-term ones to Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace.
Contenders Move Up and Down the Board
The reigning champion New York Knicks have struggled out of the gate. They fell from a tie with the Philadelphia 76ers at +900 to a tie with the Boston Celtics at 10-1. Boston improved from 13-1 after a 3-1 start.
Several other teams climbed the championship board during the first week. The Toronto Raptors moved from 25-1 to 15-1, the Minnesota Timberwolves moved from 25-1 to 16-1, and the Houston Rockets moved from 35-1 to 16-1.
The Miami Heat, who are led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, went the other direction. After failing to win a game in the season’s first week, their title odds lengthened from 30-1 to 55-1.
MVP Race
Antetokounmpo dropped from 14-1 to 16-1 on the MVP odds board. Victor Wembanyama still leads the market at +210.
